GENERAL FUNCTION
The Team Lead plays a key role in supporting the Department Supervisor by overseeing day-to-day operations and leading a team of Lab Technicians in the assigned area.
This role is responsible for ensuring that work is performed in line with quality standards, company procedures, and regulatory requirements, while acting as a go-to resource on the floor by coordinating daily tasks, guiding workflow, maintaining productivity and compliance, directing and monitoring Lab Technicians, providing on-the-job training, supporting issue resolution, and promoting adherence to safety and operational protocols.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Acquire and develop a detailed understanding of the products, processes, and equipment within the assigned area through on-the-job training and experience.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to discipline, integrity, and work ethic, setting an example for team members while learning and growing in the role.
- Assist in leading activities for associate techs, production techs, and senior production techs, while actively learning leadership skills and responsibilities.
- Ensure associates are following all processes for their assigned location, including safety procedures, with guidance and support as needed.
- Help resolve process problems by utilizing established problem-solving methods, technical resources, and collaborating with associates and management to minimize downtime and maximize process yields.
- Support supervisors in meeting daily production goals, learning how to contribute to meeting team and production objectives.
- Provide production data as required for the functional area and develop understanding of key production metrics.
- Maintain open communication with facility management and other teams within the location, learning effective communication strategies.
- Participate in the calibration of equipment and tooling, maintaining documentation per ISO Standards for all DST equipment and processes while learning best practices.
- Support the team in consistently meeting Key Operating Measures such as Quality Control, Breakage Costs, Equipment Utilization, and On-time Delivery.
- Take on additional responsibilities and perform special projects as assigned by leadership, gaining exposure to different aspects of the operations.
- Actively review workforce performance by tracking relevant metrics and learning how to direct associates effectively.Solicit feedback from associates on missed opportunities and successes, while actively learning how to identify areas for improvement.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent, relevant work experience.
- 2 to 3 years of related work experience, such as in production or distribution, with a strong desire to learn and grow in the role.
- Willingness and ability to develop competency in using diagnostic equipment, troubleshooting, control systems, robotics, and automated equipment through on-the-job training.
- Basic competency in Windows-based architecture and Microsoft Applications, with an eagerness to expand technical skills.
- Ability to learn and maintain a disciplined, structured work environment.
- Willingness to rotate between sitting and standing for extended periods (up to 12 hours per day).
- Ability to bend, twist, and use repetitive motion of hands and wrists.
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Strong communication (oral and written) skills in English.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to learn and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
