As a Payroll Officer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely and efficient payroll processing across the business. Aligned with departmental goals, this role is responsible for resolving payroll processing and employee enquiries, while also providing broader team support as directed by the Team Leader.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accurate and timely end-to-end payroll across multiple Australian states
  • Manage payroll inbox, tickets and employee queries with prompt resolution
  • Set up new starters, process terminations, and maintain payroll records
  • Configure payroll allowances, deductions and bonus payments in line with policy
  • Partner with HR, Finance and management on payroll enquiries and compliance
  • Support month-end activities and deliver payroll reporting and analysis

 

About You

  • Minimum of 2 years’ payroll experience, ideally in a retail environment
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, awards and enterprise agreements
  • Proficient in payroll processes including reporting, new starters, terminations, allowances, deductions, and bonus payments
  • Ability to identify payroll risks and implement proactive solutions
  • Experience with payroll systems such as SAP and rostering tools like Kronos (UKG) preferred
  • Comfortable managing high volumes of queries, maintaining confidentiality, and meeting tight deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and effective time management
