Part implementer, part developer, part AI practitioner. Fully hands-on.

SUNIX builds the practice management software that optometry practices across Australia and New Zealand run their day on. We're now moving those practices from our established platform to SUNIX Vision NEXT Generation, our cloud platform, and we need someone who can take a practice from "here's how we work today" to confidently running in the cloud.

This isn't a role where you log a ticket and move on. You'll follow problems the whole way through Customer → Problem → Analysis → Solution → Technology → Delivery → Outcome

Key Responsibilities 

With customers

• Lead cloud implementations from discovery to go-live and beyond: configuration, data migration, training and adoption.
• Get to know how each practice really works and work out whether a problem is a genuine product gap or a configuration, data, training or process issue.

With code

• Write code yourself: smaller enhancements, implementation tooling and automation in Python, Django and JavaScript.
• Dig into application code, data and integrations to diagnose issues, and turn customer needs into requirements our developers can build without guesswork.

With AI

• Use AI as a serious working tool across analysis, coding, documentation and testing.
• Turn what works into repeatable AI-assisted processes for SUNIX, and spot where AI can create real value for us and our customers.

Holding it all together

• Keep several implementations moving at once, coordinating customers, Development and Support so nothing falls through the cracks.

About You 

• You've come from implementation, consulting, business analysis or customer success, and you can code. Or you've come from development and found you enjoy the customer side more than most.
• You write code, ideally Python/Django or modern web development (JavaScript, SQL, REST APIs, Git).
• You already use AI properly: giving it context and constraints, breaking big tasks into stages, checking what comes back and knowing when not to trust it.
• You can explain technical things to a busy optometrist, and an optometrist's needs precisely to a developer.
• You take ownership, and you'd rather have variety than a narrow job boundary.

You don't need to be our most senior developer, or an expert in every technology. Curiosity, learning unfamiliar systems quickly and following problems through to the end matter more.
