Your role

We are looking for a Retail Merchandise Financial Planning Intern who will support the Retail Merchandise Financial Planner in all core planning, budgeting, and performance‑monitoring activities across frames, sunglasses, and lenses categories. The role plays a key part in sales planning, product performance analysis, and inventory optimization within a cross‑functional retail environment.


Main responsibilities:

  • Support Budget & Forecast processes by translating banner financial targets into product targets (sales, units, AUR, margin) for frames and sunglasses, and integrate lenses‑related metrics.
  • Contribute to Monthly Business Review (MBR) analysis, reviewing product performance (units mix, AUR, margin) and highlighting deviations versus budget and forecast.
  • Adapt sales projections based on performance results and communicate updates to Demand Planning and Supply Chain teams.
  • Support obsolescence management through forecasting and optimization of excess stock, recall planning, and collaboration with Supply Chain, Supply Chain Controlling, and Local Finance.
  • Plan sales and monitor inventory KPIs to achieve sales, gross margin, and inventory productivity goals.
  • Partner with Finance to ensure budget alignment and meet financial targets.
  • Analyze product performance and contribute to in‑season assortment strategy adjustments.
  • Prepare monthly brand‑level financial and profitability analysis, highlighting business insights and key drivers.
  • Collaborate with Merchandisers and the Assortment team to develop sales and facings plans at brand level.
  • Work cross‑functionally with Merchandising, Finance, Assortment & Buying, Supply Chain, Store Planning, and Local Planning teams.

 

Main requirements:

  • Strong analytical mindset with solid problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Good mathematical skills and strong planning/organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work in fast‑paced environments, manage multiple tasks, and adapt quickly (fast learner and flexible).
  • Strong cross‑functional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Good knowledge of Excel (formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables); advanced proficiency is a plus.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint and Word.
  • Educational background in Management, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or similar fields; international experience is considered a plus.
  • Proficient in Italian and English, other languages are a plus
