Your role
We are looking for a passionate Merchandise Financial Planner who will play a key role in driving our retail business performance through strategic financial planning, insightful analysis, and effective inventory management. In this role, you’ll partner closely with merchandising, buying, and allocation teams to develop seasonal financial plans, optimize product assortments, and ensure the right balance between sales growth, margin, and stock efficiency. You will leverage data-driven insights to guide decision-making, identify opportunities, and support the achievement of company objectives in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment.
Main responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Forecasting
- Lead the financial planning process for a regional cluster of banners across sales, margin, markdowns, receipts, and inventory, mainly on Eyewear category.
- Develop annual, seasonal, and in-season forecasts that support company and regional growth goals.
- Partner with Merchandising and Finance teams to translate business strategies into accurate financial plans.
- Monitor and adjust forecasts in response to changing trends, sales performance, and market dynamics.
Business Analysis & Insights
- Analyze historical and current sales trends to identify risks and opportunities at the division, category, and channel level.
- Provide actionable insights to support assortment planning, pricing, and promotional strategies.
- Evaluate inventory health, sell-through rates, and markdown performance to improve inventory productivity and profitability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Allocation and Supply Chain teams to ensure inventory investments align with sales demand and store capacity.
- Partner with Finance to align merchandise plans with broader financial forecasts and company objectives.
- Communicate financial performance, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership, driving data-based decision-making.
People Management
- Coordinate a small team, ensuring effective deployment of all merchandise financial planning activities in their perimeter
Main requirements:
- Strong drive for innovation and proactively breaking the status quo
- Degree in Finance, Economics, or similar disciplines
- Strong background in FP&A, business controlling, or planning
- Interest in product and strong business acumen
- Ability to effectively communicate with colleagues in non-finance roles, especially in retail business
- Good managerial skills and ability to work in complex global teams
- Open to an international career
- Previous experience in Retail is considered a plus
- Team player and strong collaboration skills
