Your role

You will be part of the Smart Eyewear team, in particular the New Technologies Introduction (NTI) branch.

You will be responsible of leading the acoustical design and integration of new audio system architecture and algorithms in our cutting-edge Smart Glasses.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, and product designers, to ensure our products deliver exceptional audio performance while maintaining a seamless and comfortable user experience.


Main responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of audio system architecture and algorithms, for providing the best user experience in the field of audio smart eyewear devices, including hearing aids functions.
  • Stay up to date with the latest audio technology trends and incorporate innovative solutions into our products. Including, for example, research acoustical technologies and transducers for implementation in eyewear frame.
  • Design, prototyping, and characterization of smart eyewear devices implementing audio functionalities.
  • Responsible for modelling and tuning audio algorithms of prototype hardware to achieve the best audio performance to understand and formalize system requirements.
  • Define functional and system requirements for new audio product.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to fine-tune audio algorithms and drivers for optimal user experience.
  • Daily interactions with product designers to come up with innovative system integration strategies.
  • Realization of proof-of-concepts in our R&D labs. Carry out testing, debug and performance measurements with internal equipment or in collaboration with external suppliers.
  • Interface with our international network of collaborators and partners, remotely or on-site, to help ramp up production of our innovative products.
  • Test in the lab of prototypes and pre-series boards with oscilloscopes, multimeters, bench power supplies, function generators and active loads, working with FW engineers.
  • Support product manufacturing and provide technical assistance during production phases.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities related to audio system issues.

Main requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Acoustic Engineering / Electronic Engineering / Embedded System or equivalent.
  • Previous work experience in similar role, preferably in Audio for Consumer Electronics.
  • Attitude to read, understand and write technical documentation (requirements, specifications, reports, analyses, etc).
  • Experience with audio system design, including simulation and fast prototyping.
  • Experience with mechanical design for audio transducers.
  • Experience with digital and analog hardware design (cad tools, simulation, design-for-manufacturing).
  • Proficiency in audio signal processing and algorithm development.
  • Strong understanding of acoustics and audio measurement techniques.
  • Familiar with rapid prototyping and hands-on attitude.
  • Experience with microcontrollers/system-on-chip and most common communication busses (SPI, I2C, UART, MIPI, USB) will be a plus.
  • Experience with DSP audio development will be a plus (e.g., Tensilica Hifi5).
  • Ability to work in a dynamic multicultural team where you will collaborate with members having different backgrounds and from different time zones.
  • Attitude to problem solving and to achieve results within challenging time and cost constraints.
