GENERAL FUNCTION

The Vice President of Eyecare is responsible for the strategy and execution of doctor-related initiatives within the Retail Licensed Brands organization, currently consisting of Target Optical and Pearle Vision brands. This role will also oversee the recruiting of Optometrists for diverse store environments, lead efforts to enhance Doctor satisfaction, and work to increase patient access. This leader will work in close partnership with the Eyecare Center of Excellence (COE) to ensure that brand priorities are supported by the COE and that COE initiatives are successfully implemented within the brand.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Eyecare Strategy

  • Keep abreast of retail eyecare sector innovations & competitive activity within the marketplace
  • Design and run the delivery of the eyecare strategy of the brand to doctor population
  • Lead the Optometric Advisory Council (OAC) of doctors to gain insights and perspectives on the doctor experience within the brands and enlist their help and sponsorship to execute Eyecare strategies
  • Integrate OD perspective in brand decisions, utilizing OAC and creating a two-way dialogue
  • Monitor and analyze Brand and Doctor metrics to identify and act upon opportunities to build the business and optimize coverage

Eyecare Execution/Delivery

  • Strategically increase patient access and ensure comprehensive coverage within the brands, minimizing dark, dim and opportunity stores
  • Collaborate with optometrists, field leaders, marketing, internal stakeholders, academic institutions, and attend industry events to drive patient access, expand business, and elevate brand loyalty.
  • Analyze OD KPIs, and in partnership with EyeCare COE and Field Leadership, design plans to increase eye exam traffic
  • Design eye exam growth and patient retention programs and implement plans that deliver results
  • Communicate brand value-propositions, ensuring understanding and buy-in for improved attraction and retention

OD Recruitment

  • Lead OD recruitment and management efforts across the US and Canada
  • Build effective recruitment models, strategic sourcing, and hiring strategies for Optometrists (ODs)
  • Create programs and partnerships with industry associations, events, and campaigns that generate brand awareness, builds talent pipeline, and drives recruiting efforts
  • Develop University campus pathway programs into the Eyecare network

Leadership

  • Develop team to grow soft skills, business functional depth and breadth, and industry acumen
  • Coach team to optimize the patient journey and direct eyecare initiatives via well-defined action plans
  • Support the business and functional units in achieving their goals by serving as a thought partner, eyecare expert, change agent, and strategist

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in business, health care or related field
  • Doctor of Optometry degree
  • 15+ years of experience in the retail optical industry
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple priorities in parallel
  • Proven ability to coach and develop
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Excellent prioritization skills with a clear focus on results
  • Ability to combine strategic vision with everyday tactical detail and a strong urge for action
  • 50%-75% travel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA or other advanced healthcare related degrees
