Your role

We are looking for a Lens Innovation Senior Project Manager to join the Innovation function within our Sun Lens Business Unit. This role plays a key part in shaping the future of plano and RX sun lenses by driving scientific exploration, technical feasibility, and concept validation of new lens solutions.
You will lead innovation projects from early stage idea generation through feasibility studies and proof of concept, ensuring alignment with the Sun Lens strategic roadmap and launch timeline. You will scout new materials, technologies, and applications from both inside and outside the industry, bringing creative and disruptive solutions into the lens innovation pipeline.
Following our phase and gate methodology, you will frame and structure innovation projects to ensure a seamless handover to industrialization teams. This position requires strong scientific curiosity, resilience, autonomy, and the ability to coach and mentor junior colleagues.

Main responsibilities: 

• Lead feasibility studies for assigned projects, ensuring alignment with technical specifications, timing, and cost targets
• Drive proof of concept phases, validating design ideas and preparing technologies for qualification with the Vision Performance Lab.
• Generate new concepts, exploring innovative solutions in materials, chemistry, coatings, processes, and molding.
• Build and maintain a strong internal and external network, collaborating with:
  • Internal teams: Operations, Engineering, R&D, Program Management, Industrialization, Sun Lens Industrialization across geographies, Production & Automation, Planning, Quality, H&S, Product/Style.
  • External stakeholders: Suppliers, development partners, universities, research institutions.
• Ensure project timelines align with the strategic lens launch plan.
• Act as a mentor and technical reference point for junior team members.

Main requirements: 

• Strong technical expertise in at least one of the following fields: Materials, Chemistry, Coatings, Processes, Molding.
• Solid scientific background with the ability to research, analyze, and deep dive into complex technical topics.
• Proven experience in project management: planning, trial scheduling, problem solving, supplier management.
• Demonstrated perseverance, resilience, autonomy, and interest in mentoring younger talent.
