The Tax Manager leads a team of Tax Specialists supporting EssilorLuxottica’s operations—including Mass Production, RX, Frames, Glasses, and Consignment—across various Thai Industrial Zones (Latkrabang, Amata, and Rayong), as well as the IBC shared-services company
The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing local tax compliance, including Corporate Income Tax, Withholding Tax, VAT, SBT, and Stamp Duty, as well as managing BOI tax incentives and regulatory requirements. This role also supervises month-end closings and annual submissions related to tax accounts on the balance sheet, tax reconciliations, CIT calculations, TP Disclosure forms, monthly deferred tax, and tax provisions
The Tax Manager will also lead tax audits and internal audits, ensuring adherence to internal procedures and compliance with local regulations and IFRS standards. This role serves as the primary point of contact for tax authorities on compliance matters, working closely with external tax consultants when necessary to support and resolve complex issues.
The Tax Manager is responsible for identifying potential tax issues and ensuring corporate awareness of tax risks and compliance challenges. This role also manages various tax-related projects, such as OECD Pillar II implementation and Transfer Pricing documentation.
My day at EssilorLuxottica
- Manage the Thailand Operations Tax team, overseeing tax matters for multiple entities across the country, including Latkrabang, Chonburi, and Rayong
- Review and validate VAT, SBT, and Stamp Duty return data, ensuring accurate reporting and timely tax payments in compliance with local tax laws and statutory requirements
- Validate the filing and submission of Withholding Tax, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements
- Ensure the completeness and accuracy of tax-related components in month-end closing and annual submissions, including balance sheet tax accounts, tax reconciliations, Corporate Income Tax (CIT) calculations (considering BOI incentives), TP Disclosure forms, monthly deferred tax, and tax provisions
- Coordinate with the Group Business Services (GBS) team on all tax-related matters, including monthly tax reconciliations
- Verify and submit CIT returns, and serve as the key liaison with the Tax Revenue Department, as well as regional and corporate tax teams
- Verify and submit BOI reports to claim tax incentives, and coordinate directly with the BOI Department
- Verify and submit transfer pricing reports, including collaborating with regional and corporate tax teams and external tax consultants
- Manage and review local taxes, including Stamp Duty Tax, Special Business Tax, and other corporate tax
- Oversee the preparation and submission of all domestic, corporate, and international tax compliance filings
- Manage internal tax controls and procedures to ensure full compliance with local tax authority requirements
- Participate in the budgeting process for both domestic and international tax-related expenses
- Act as the primary point of contact for tax authorities on matters related to tax compliance
- Maintain direct communication with various tax bureaus and local tax authorities to ensure smooth coordination and timely responses
- Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations, and rulings that impact the company’s tax compliance, strategy, and accounting practices
- Recommend strategic tax planning actions to minimize liabilities and optimize compliance, including the use of third-party outsourcing in alignment with Corporate Tax guidance
- Serve as the key coordinator for internal and external audits related to tax compliance topics
- Take ownership of additional duties and special projects within the taxation domain as required
Must have
- Bachelor Degree or higher in Accounting or any related fields
- Strong understanding of fundamental accounting standards, including Local GAAP and IFRS, as well as local tax regulations
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with BOI (Board of Investment) regulations and processes
- Excellent analytical skills and a keen eye for detail
- Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Highly trustworthy and maintains strict attention to confidentiality
- Good skill in MS applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Good knowledge in Oracle or SAP
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken
- Demonstrates flexibility and openness to frequent travel between all four of our manufacturing facilities located across Thailand
