The Research & Development Department in Bangkok is continuously expanding its capabilities to accelerate the development of innovative technologies that will help our Group maintain its leadership in the optical industry. By integrating expertise in both polymer science and mechanical engineering, R&D Bangkok is focused on advancing thermoset casting technologies to meet a broad range of needs in upstream research.
The primary mission of the R&D Polymer Chemist is to contribute in-depth knowledge and technical expertise in polymerization processes, with a strong emphasis on photopolymerization. These emerging technologies are critical to shaping the future of thermoset materials.
My day at EssilorLuxottica
- Design and execute experiments aligned with project objectives.
- Perform routine analyses, experimental trials, and investigative work in line with research plans.
- Accurately document experimental results and prepare technical reports, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.
- Supervise and support laboratory technicians and operators in daily activities across functions.
- Collaborate with suppliers of raw materials and laboratory equipment.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams such as Quality, Sourcing, and other relevant departments.
- Manage and monitor external research collaborations.
- Ensure full compliance with Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations.
- Oversee maintenance and proper functioning of assigned laboratory equipment.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of hands-on experience in polymerization, polymer characterization techniques, and R&D within an industrial setting.
- Proficient in conducting scientific literature searches (journals, patents, online databases).
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy in executing complex tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a solid grasp of analytical methodologies and tools.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken.
