GENERAL FUNCTION

Essilor Instruments, a prominent medical equipment manufacturer / distributor in the eyecare sector, is seeking a dedicated service technician to assist in refurbishing medical equipment and oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of various medical equipment. In this pivotal role, the Service & Refurbishing Technician will be responsible for repairing, refurbishing and diagnosing a diverse range of mechanical and some computer-based medical equipment. Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure your success.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical Expertise: Inspect, refurbish, adjust, calibrate, and repair an extensive array of mechanical and electromechanical equipment, including chairs, stands, slit lamps, tonometers, refractometers, phoropters, and other advanced optometric and ophthalmic equipment.
  • Maintenance: Execute routine maintenance activities to ensure optimal functionality of all equipment.
  • Safety Focus: Conduct safety checks and potentially provide training to practitioners on the proper operation of equipment.
  • Diagnostic Skills: Disassemble equipment to identify sources of malfunctions or inaccuracies. Replace or repair defective components, and reassemble equipment with precision adjustments.
  • Record Keeping: Documenting service processes and keeping detailed records of work performed, parts used and pictures of completed products.
  • Work Environment: Uphold a safe and clean work environment by adhering to prescribed procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Customer Service: Exhibit professionalism and deliver exceptional customer service.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in electronics (computer) repair is advantageous.
  • Prior experience with diagnostic tools and equipment is desired.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude is essential.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting, organizational, and time management skills are critical.
  • Capable of handling physical demands, including moving equipment weighing up to 150 pounds.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Possession of a valid, current U.S. Driver’s License
  • Previous involvement in the optical/ophthalmic industry is a distinct advantage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Higher education degree
  • Previous experience in the optical industry, knowledge of Essilor Instruments products and a strong command of the industry language

​Pay Range: 22.03  - 32.01 

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total rewards package.
