The Dudley, MA facility is home to Operations, Global Lens Engineering, and Research and Development teams that work together to develop, pilot and manufacture, semi-finished, polycarbonate lenses for premium markets. We also supply coatings, inks, inserts and other innovative products to customers throughout the world.

JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL FUNCTION
Acts as the process expert for the Controlled Room and supports the team in applying standards and improving the standard to meet goals in terms of Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure a safe working environment at all times.
- Be the single point of contact for all activities touching the controlled room operation.
- Be a process expert on all aspects of the controlled room operation, as well as extensive knowledge of the product and the defects.
- Maintains a 2-way communication with team members, supervisor and stake holders. o Demonstrate ideal behaviors at all times.
- Coordinate manpower at the start of the shift.
- Report absenteeism and fill in for absenteeism according to pre-defined rules.
- Cover for other leads when absent according to pre-defined rules.
- Deliver training to the standard using the TWI (Training Within Industry) approach and our existing training system (TMS). Track, Report and monitor team members’ individual performance and provide constructive feedback and appropriate training and support for each team members to reach the standard expected performance level.
- Develop associates’ problem-solving capability through dynamic facilitation and through promoting the basic tools of structured problem-solving tools such as 5-whys, fishbone diagram.
- Conduct certification testing on employees who have completed technical training programs. Evaluate and report on trainee’s technical and soft skilled competencies
- Assist, support and challenge the manufacturing engineering group on process improvement activities. Modify procedures accordingly and ensure the new processes are deployed and sustained through updating the documentation and retraining the team members.
- Own and update the operational standards according to our existing documentation system.
- Capture problems that prevent applying the standards and ensure those problems are solved timely through structured problem solving or through coordinating the resources required to solve the problem (maintenance, engineering, etc.)
- Participate in Kaizen events and lead mini-Kaizen events
- Own Continuous Improvement activities within the Controlled Room in the form of structured problem-solving activities or through the idea system.
- Stimulate and collect ideas to improve the operational or management standards.
- Report to and collaborate with supervisor on any process or personnel issues.
- Use leadership skills and technical competences to facilitate the actions necessary to align team with daily production goals, etc.
- Mentor team members to build technical skills.
- Take pride and ownership in own work, the facility and the team by modeling team behaviors.
- Any additional duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Education equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
- Strong technical competencies and process expertise.
- Strong human relations skills
- Able to set a good example to employees regarding company policies and procedures
- Able to motivate others, including teams, and challenge individuals to come up with new ideas.
- Able to translate complex information into simple, understandable steps
- Be respected by peers and management for both attitude and work ethic
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior leadership experience.
- TWI training method/approach knowledge or experience.
- Yellow belt certification.
Pay Range: 21.16 - 32.48
