The Dudley, MA facility is home to Operations, Global Lens Engineering, and Research and Development teams that work together to develop, pilot and manufacture, semi-finished, polycarbonate lenses for premium markets. We also supply coatings, inks, inserts and other innovative products to customers throughout the world.

GENERAL FUNCTION

The EssilorLuxottica Full-Time internship spans 10 weeks in the summer (with opportunities to extend Part-Time during the academic year) and allows you to become fully immersed into EssilorLuxottica and its brands. You will perform meaningful work that delivers real impact, take part in learning and career development sessions, and experience one-on-one mentorship and interactive networking events. 

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·     Support material and process engineers with active projects;

·     Assist in researching new materials, technologies, and potential alternatives for ophthalmic lens;

·     Conduct physical, chemical, and optical characterization of these materials and assemblies;

·     Help develop manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, extrusion compounding, film lamination, etc), and assist in troubleshooting production issues;

·     Maintain and organize material data sheets, test reports, and process documentation;

·     Attend project meetings and provide updates to cross functional partners;

·     Maintain a safe, organized, and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations;

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

·     Seeking a degree in Material Science and/or Engineering, Polymer Science and/or Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0;

·     Legal authorization to work in the U.S. required on the first day of employment;

·     Knowledge on polymers, analytical techniques (thermal, optical, mechanical) and plastics manufacturing processes (injection molding, extrusion compounding, lamination, 3D printing);

·     Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams;

·     Self-starter, self-motivated, with ability to complete project goals on time with attention to detail and high quality of work;

·     Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, maturity and good judgment;

·     Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;

·     Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality;

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·     Previous internship or work experience in similar functions/business units;

·     Coursework or lab experience in polymers, optics, or plastic part design;

·     Familiarity with SolidWorks, Excel Macro, Minitab, or Moldflow;

 

 

Pay Range: $25/hr - Undergraduate. $32/hr - Graduate.

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total rewards package.
