The Category Manager is accountable for maintaining a continuous balance between demand and supply within their product line, as part of the S&OP process. They focus on optimizing flows and reducing lead times for products sold by the group. Depending on the category, the Category Manager oversees the proper execution of the S&OP process, defines performance indicators, and ensures a balance between market demand and production capacities across short, medium, and long-term horizons.   

 

Responsabilities :

 

Operating at the international level for Essilor Luxottica and its partners, the Category Manager may also lead a team within their scope. Key activities include:

 

S&OP Process:

 

         Participate in monthly “Demand Management” and “Supply” meetings with different regions to validate replenishment forecasts and production levels.

•         Challenge monthly calculations of needs and loads by supply chain teams.

•         Synthesize monthly S&OP results, identifying imbalances requiring top management decisions.

 

Flow Optimization:

 

         Collect data from project leaders to define/modify flows within the S&OP process.

•         Validate transfer prices between group entities for flow modifications.

•         Identify and validate discontinuation of underperforming products, coordinating with marketing and impacted regions.

•         Manage product transfers between production facilities to reduce carbon footprint related to glass transportation.

•         Drive improvements in flows, processes, and tools within the scope, collaborating closely with WWSC Transformation.

 

Other Responsibilities:

 

         Define and implement solutions for issues affecting market service (production incidents, transportation issues, country-specific challenges).

•         Calculate obsolescence targets for product generation changes, validating with project directors and Finance.

•         Develop and maintain plans ensuring sales continuity in case of production issues, potentially leading a crisis team until resolution.

 

Candidate Profile:

 

  • Educational Background in engineering or Business master's in supply chain
  • At least 10 years of experience in industrial world
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Solid experience with Microsoft software packages
  • Solid experience in Project Management and Planning
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with about 5 years of experience in international industrial settings.
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain, production, and project management.
  • Technical skills: familiarity with group products and flows, proficiency in written and spoken English, data management, and supply chain information systems.
  • Behavioral skills: analytical ability, negotiation, managing complexity and uncertainty, effective vertical and horizontal communication.
