Your role

 

As Area Sales Manager, you will lead and develop a team of Sales Representatives across North Belgium while driving sustainable business growth for our lenses and frames portfolio.

Reporting to the Country Managing Director, you will be responsible for delivering regional sales performance, strengthening customer partnerships, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring operational excellence across your territory.

This is a highly visible leadership role where you will combine people management, commercial strategy, field coaching, and market insight to help shape the future growth of the business.

 

You will spend a significant amount of time in the field coaching and developing your team, building strong customer relationships, and acting as a true ambassador of EssilorLuxottica and its values.

 

Dutch and English language skills are required for this position.

 


Main responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 6–14 Sales Representatives across the region.
  • Drive a high-performance sales culture through effective goal setting, performance management, coaching, and regular feedback.
  • Conduct accompanied field visits with Sales Representatives (approximately 60% of the role) to support customer engagement and sales effectiveness.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop talent, while building robust succession plans and team capabilities.
  • Develop and execute annual regional business plans to grow revenue, market share, and profitability.
  • Strengthen relationships with existing key customers and identify opportunities to win new business.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and support key account development within the region.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, Customer Service, Sales Administration, Finance, and other commercial stakeholders to maximise business performance.
  • Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities and shape the regional sales strategy.
  • Manage regional budgets, promotional spend, forecasting, and sales reporting through CRM and business intelligence tools.
  • Ensure effective sales planning, pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and opportunity tracking.
  • Take ownership of regional sales performance, service levels, and customer satisfaction, ensuring Essilor remains the preferred partner in the market.
  • Support company-wide projects and contribute to the continuous improvement of sales processes and tools.

 

 

 

Main requirements:

  • Proven experience in a sales leadership role, ideally within FMCG, healthcare, medical devices, optics, retail, or a related commercial environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing and developing field-based sales teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering and exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience developing sales strategies, managing budgets, and driving business growth.
  • Excellent coaching, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and relationship-management capabilities.
  • Ability to analyse market data and translate insights into effective commercial actions.
  • Experience working with CRM systems, sales reporting, forecasting, and pipeline management.
  • Highly organised, results-driven, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work cross-functionally across Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, and Finance.
  • Self-motivated with a continuous learning mindset and commitment to personal development.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English; additional language skills are an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within North Belgium and spend significant time in the field with customers and the sales team.
