We’re seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Operations Manager to join our team at the Henderson Laboratory. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing productivity, quality, and the performance of our operations team. With a hands-on approach and strong leadership skills, you will play a vital role in ensuring the laboratory runs efficiently and effectively, maintaining the highest standards of operational excellence.

Requirements for the role:

  •  Oversee daily operations of the New Zealand Fit Center, ensuring lab KPIs related to service and quality are consistently met.
  • Manage Work In Progress (WIP) closely to maintain consistent service delivery and meet customer expectations.

  • Review and resolve customer complaints, conducting thorough root cause analysis to drive effective corrective actions and uphold customer satisfaction.

  • Monitor Unit Manufacturing Costs (UMC) and ensure overall expenses remain within budgetary limits.

  • Foster a culture of ownership and accountability, with a strong focus on delivering outstanding service.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across production processes, systems, and infrastructure to enhance efficiency and performance.

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training efforts to build a skilled and engaged team

What you will bring

  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to lead and motivate teams.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels, both internally and externally.

  • Highly organised with strong planning skills, ensuring time-critical targets and deadlines are consistently met

  • Hands-on experience in a production or operations environment, with a practical, solution-focused mindset

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering quality outcomes the first time

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams

  • Strong decision-making abilities 

  • Experience in the optical industry is an advantage, but not essential

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
