Our Store Designer will oversee the design process for retail fit-outs across Sunglass Hut, OPSM, Laubman & Pank, and Oakley, coordinating with both internal and external stakeholders.

 

This role requires the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment, handling store development projects in Australia and New Zealand. Exceptional time management skills and the capacity to manage multiple projects while ensuring stakeholder alignment are crucial for success. We seek a candidate with strong problem-solving abilities and a solid understanding of space planning principles and construction methods.

 

Requirements for Success

  • Develop a thorough understanding of each of our retail brands (brand identity, operations and merchandise) as they relate to the store design
  • Create local design standards documents based on global design concepts
  • Partner with our global design team in Italy, to ensure store designs meet Australian standards and local project criteria
  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, in particular Construction, Operations, VM and Property representatives, to ensure alignment of time, cost and quality in delivering projects
  • Oversee timely completion of projects, on-time deliverables, and adherence to budgets
  • Produce preliminary feasibility floorplans
  • Manage the engagement of external documenters, which includes review and sign off of design documentation for construction
  • Produce construction level documentation packs for minor works projects

 

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Interior Design, Architecture, or equivalent
  • 3+ years’ experience in retail design
  • A thorough knowledge of Australian Building Code and Standards
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign) experience beneficial
  • Excellent communication and people management skills
  • Outstanding time management and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects
  • Problem solving skills while applying your understanding of space planning principles and construction methods
  • Willingness to travel as required (majority day trips within Australia)
