GENERAL FUNCTION

The Process Engineer is responsible for the qualification and production process approval of new injection molds. The Engineer develops set-up procedures and documentation for Production Mold Technicians that ensure all quality, efficiency, and safety requirements are achieved. Fosters excellent molding practices and assists in training set-up personnel. The Engineer is hands-on and performs sample activities daily. Investigates, establishes, and implements requirements for equipment, tooling, materials, and methods of manufacturing from initial sampling through mass production.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs new tool qualification using a scientific molding approach.
  • Recommends any tooling modifications to allow for a robust molding window which will provide quality parts with optimized cycle times while producing the least amount of scrap.
  • Develops and documents processing and set-up procedures.
  • Leads and support implementation of Scientific/ Decoupled Molding processes.
  • Leads molding improvements to include cycle time efficiencies, scrap reduction, and establishment of optimal processing parameters.
  • Assists with general molding troubleshooting, post repair mold sampling, quality issues, and training.
  • Project management including DOE’s and process capability studies.
  • Performs job in a safe manner and strives to meet or exceed company safety goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Engineering Degree
  • RJG Master Molder – I and II certification
  • 5+ years of experience performing mold set-ups and mold changes within an injection molding facility
  • Experience working with injection molding machines, operations, setup, and processing of molds and auxiliary equipment
  • Excellent knowledge of engineering thermoplastic resins, processing, and troubleshooting for highly cosmetic surface requirements
  • Knowledge of using cavity pressure sensors
  • Ability to properly maintain mold records and document process & procedures
  • Working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS in associated field of study
  • Experience creating and learning from DOE’s, preferably in development of molding processes
  • Experience working within a global technical group with proven abilities to leverage global and regional strengths
  • Lean Six Sigma training
  • Familiar with Oakley brand/product

​Pay Range: 97,909.08  - 127,604.77 

 

Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total rewards package.
