GENERAL FUNCTION
The Associate R&D Design Engineer is a member of the team that creates and delivers brand-relevant technologies to the Product Roadmap. R&D’s core role is innovation through timely creation of technologies with meaningful consumer benefits. This position will focus on fundamental engineering tasks, gaining exposure to the complex procedures within the engineering function.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves as a developmental element of the R&D team
- Functions as an internal member of a Design Engineering team
- Executes engineering tasks and is familiar with/adheres to the larger process
- Prepares prototypes for functional evaluation and testing
- Create prototype fixtures and necessary tooling for prototype builds
- Executes testing procedures to confirm performance improvements
- Assist with necessary prototype testing
- Working scope is task based as a member of the larger engineering team
- Primary cross functional partners include Design, Product, Model Shop, Tooling, Product Development Engineering and QA/APQP Team
- Tracks assignment progress through reporting manager
- Work is closely managed with technical direction from engineering staff
- Works with engineers to ensure all designs have proper fit and can meet defined technical requirements
- Support design engineering solutions that serve as a vision for new product features
- Works on multiple projects and brands simultaneously through ideation and physical samples
- Other duties as needed
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Engineering or similar
- 1 year of experience
- CAD modeling, packaging, and assembly experience
- Knowledge of polymers, plastics processing, and injection molding
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping/additive manufacturing methods
- Experience conducting physical testing and sample evaluation
- Hands-on fabrication of prototypes for testing and user feedback
- Computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word
- Imaginative outside the box thinker with a history of problem solving
- Simple and Fast approach to innovating, fail fast- learn faster
- Demonstrated technical ability and experience in team enviroments
- Strong organizational, people, verbal and written communication skills
- Self-starter with high attention to detail
- Able to travel up to 5%, domestic and international
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- 3 years of engineering experience
- ProE/Creo proficiency
- Packaging and manipulation of assemblies
- Mechanical assembly manipulation
- FEA simulation
- Familiarity with MIM, die casting, forging and other metal forming technology
- Experience preparing prototypes for user evaluation
- Field testing with end-users in various environments
- Entrepreneurial spirit through constant progression and improvement
- Passion for and participation in our core sports
Pay Range: 76,722.68 - 111,484.07
Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may also be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan, which complements a first-class total rewards package.
