The Group Lenses Innovation department of EssilorLuxottica invents new ophthalmic products. The teams are in charge to design innovations with new benefits, refine them through evaluations with wearers and provide the sufficient level of proof to put them on the market.
The role of the Clinical and Product Evaluation department is to run the tests with the consumers and users, in order to provide:

insight for the development of concepts,

proofs for claim substantiation and product validation.
Your role
Within the team, the Sensory Analysis Expert will be in charge of the methodology linked to sensory studies. Sensory analysis helps us assessing the properties of the new lenses (anti-reflective coating, optical design…) through human perception.
This person will be the key contact for other Global Lens Innovation teams to understand the product evaluation needs, propose the appropriate testing approach and conduct / supervise the research. The studies are conducted internally or through external collaborations.
Main responsibilities:

Study definition

Understand the needs of innovation teams and phrase research questions

Define the right testing methodologies

Write down the protocols and prepare regulatory files

Study run
-
Ensure logistics for the tests (production of lenses, supply of frames, availability of instruments, etc.), along with a Sensory Analysis technician

Animate internal panel working sessions
-
Recruit participants
-
Run the study: interviews, optometric measurements, in-lab tests, field research…

Gather & organize data

If externally:

Brief the external partner
-
Monitor the study progress

Analyze and communicate the results

Conduct statistical analyses to verify hypotheses or review the external partner’s analysis

Extract the valuable insights from the analysis and structure them

Present the results outputs to stakeholders and management

Main requirements:
-
Educational Background in sensory analysis or applied psychology / neuroscience
-
At least 5 years of experience in conducting consumer product testing (eg. sensory research), ideally in ophthalmic, other domains will be considered as well
-
Operational profile: high methodological skills, able to design the right study approach, able to monitor the activity and find solutions in order to deliver results at the right time and right level of quality

Analytical skills: able to deep dive the research question, and treat the data in order to obtain insightful answers

Solid experience with Microsoft office (Excel, PowerPoint), any statistical or sensory analysis software (JASP, Statistica, R,…)

Solid experience in management of sensory panels

Strong communication skills in English are mandatory for this role, Good command of French will be a plus
