Your role
The role will support the Technical Accounting team in ensuring the correct and consistent application of Group accounting policies, IAS/IFRS and relevant local GAAP across subsidiaries managed by GBS EMEA. Working under the guidance of the Technical Department, the position will provide technical accounting support to local teams and GBS coordinators in case of interpretative issues or implementation of new policies, and will perform reviews of balance sheet reconciliations to identify potential areas for improvement and standardization.
Main responsibilities:
• Support the Technical Accounting team in ensuring consistent application of Group accounting policies, IAS/IFRS and relevant local GAAP across subsidiaries managed by GBS EMEA
• Provide technical accounting support to local finance teams and GBS coordinators in case of interpretative issues or implementation of new or updated accounting policies or standards
• Review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for GBS-managed entities to identify potential issues, areas for improvement and opportunities for standardization
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, Group policies and relevant accounting standards (e.g. IFRS and local GAAP)
• Contribute to the preparation, maintenance and update of the Group Accounting Manual
• Participate in accounting projects and initiatives aimed at harmonization of accounting principles across the EMEA perimeter
• Support accounting integration activities for new entities and acquisitions, ensuring consistency with Group standards
• Assist in external audits by preparing documentation and liaising with internal and external auditors
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business operations, process improvements and automation initiatives within GBS EMEA
• Support knowledge sharing and training initiatives for junior GBS EMEA resources
Main requirements:
• Degree in Economics, Finance or Accounting
• Minimum 5 years of experience in audit firms and/or accounting and finance departments within complex or international organizations
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, including IAS/IFRS and relevant local GAAP, and related accounting practices
• Experience in balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries review and financial reporting processes
• Good understanding of internal controls and audit processes; experience in supporting external audits is a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP or similar) is a plus
• Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong critical mindset and professional skepticism
• Ability to manage multiple topics simultaneously and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
• Effective communication skills, proactive attitude and strong team-oriented mindset
• Good communication skills in English (both written and spoken); additional languages are considered a plus
